Bottle Buddies Giveaway:
A Recycling Project for Dog Toys

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
ReUse--Then Recycle

I bet that, just like us, you have at least a couple of empty beverage bottles each day. Most of us do. Perhaps you've discovered that dogs love the noise these would-be trash items make when picking them up with their mouths.

And even if you plan to recycle these bottles, they can first be used as a plaything, before finding their way to the recycle bin. I've got a plan for helping you and Fido make use of your empties. This is way better than chewing on shoes or your cabinets, and it makes a fun sound too. Let's give away some Bottle Buddy toys!

Thanks to our friends at Petlinks, a division of Worldwise, this great new product has entered the market that is simple and uses a resource we already have plenty of--empty plastic bottles.

Below you'll have a chance to enter to win one of Bottle Buddies for your dog. These
Back to Mom for Another Toss
toys have openings where you can attach multiple bottles, so get creative and have some fun with your dog. While the toy floats when attached to empty bottles, it also makes a great indoor toy for crunching fun. Just remember to monitor the bottles. Once they begin to break, replace them with new ones that will crunch better and be safer on Fido's mouth.

If you're new to All Things Dog Blog's giveaways, you may need to know that our Rafflecopter entry form is at the bottom of this post. Sometimes it hides down there, so if you want to get it to come out and play, just click on the post title above. You'll be fetching entries in no time!

  2. Genius! I think two would be good, then it's a tug toy! We had never had a dog interested in water bottles before we adopted Taco. He is crazy about them!

This would be for my sister's dog {am afraid my baby isn't so much into playing with toys] and I think he'd definitely like all four. Thanks for the giveaway.

  23. This is actually a great idea. I have tons of plastic bottles at home ready for recycling. I would gladly reuse it for my cute little pal's plaything. One thing concerns me though because for sure the moment they clench their teeth into it they will be chewing on it non stop. I have seen a lot of news about the health hazards plastic bottles would impose on humans. How about for our dogs? Will it be safe for them them?

  24. @Carl: Thanks for the question. The hazardous chemicals of plastics are widely thought to seep from plastics when they are heated or frozen. This is particularly true of plastics that are not BPA-free, which most water bottles are not. This is why you should never store bottled water in your garage or outdoors. Don't use beverage bottles or non BPA-free plastic containers for heating foods or drinks and the latest is that we also should not use them for freezing foods or liquids.

All this said, I don't keep Tanner's Bottle Buddy outdoors in the sun. Thanks for a great question.
