I love the Animal Ark Series by Ben M. Baglio, I haven't read them all but puppies in the pantry and Kittens in the kitche were definately favorites from what I can remember

I like "Where the Red Fern Grows." I enjoyed the movie and maybe one day I will read the book. It is for grades 4 and up. "Fluke" is another good book, although I have only seen the movie. I am not sure if the book is child appropriate though.

One of my daughters absolute favorite books is "Because of Winn Dixie". She is 9 years old and her teachers last year introduced this book to the class and read it to them and it has been one of her all time favorites ever since. The teachers loved it too....so much so that we celebrated "Winn Dixie Day"! We had egg salad sandwiches and dump punch just like in the book and everything. It was awesome! My daughter would love to read these books. Books about dogs are her favorite kind of books...has ever been since Kindergarten.

A couple years ago some of the kids I worked with read Old Yeller... a book that I love to use in my room is called "WOOF" and it's a picture book. We use it for writing prompts and I love it!
