I Met this Golden Retriever in Thailand

This post has been a long time coming. After a New Year's trip to Thailand, I came home with literally thousands of photos. It was so overwhelming that I began to collect the images into themes, and quickly this post of animals on the beach caught my attention. We're not talking about pets on leashes, but rather free animals, working animals, and animals that you may not be considered pets at all.

I offer these photos for your consideration and encourage you to watch for an upcoming post on the street dogs of Thailand, as well as one that will cover the elephants more thoroughly. Enjoy and remember: Don't shoot the messenger. I just took the photos!

Did you catch the photo of the elephant doodie? That was a grocery bag--FULL! Imagine carrying that home from your walk--LOL.

Comments? I'd love to hear if you'd like to see:

  • elephants
  • tigers
  • street dogs
Leave your thoughts below. So much content; so little time.

I am SO jealous of you next to that elephant.. I am currently attending school to become an RVT(registered vet tech), and my dream has ALWAYS been to work in a zoo setting. Some of the zoo animals that fascinate me most are rhinos and elephants.. Recently, PETA "celebrated" that the AZA adopted a "protected-contact" rule regarding contact with elephants. This means that there will be no more hands on contact with elephants in AZA accredited facilities. So while PETA celebrates, I feel as though my dreams are kind of crushed.

Cynthia: You need to go to Thailand! I had many hands on encounters there, including a 1-hour trek through the jungle and up a river on an elephant seat (sort of like a saddle on a horse). It was amazing, and the trainers were very good with the animals. In Thailand the Buddhist trainers that bond and live with a young elephant believe that how they care for their charge helps to determine their lot in their next life. Thus their better treatment of animals in their country. I was amazed to view the respect with which animals were treated by the Buddhists--love the Thai people!

Gorgeous photos (except for the doodie!). I'd love to see tigers, but really any pictures of animals are great!

Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Wow Carrie! Awesome photos! The horses were gorgeous and the monkeys were cool, but by far my favorite photos were the ones with the elephants! I can not imagine seeing elephants on a beach! What a trip that must have been! Thank you for sharing these photos with all of us.
